Miracles do happen - even in Cambodia

a small little update here to remind you that there is still a lot of good happening in the world.

on new years eve we had a few people over. my friend jennifer told us about a little boy she had met that week who is so severly crippled that it puts her own kids disabilities to shame.

turns out this boy Da..is 12 years old. he nearly drowned when he was two. the near drowning caused some brain damage that meant that he lost control over his legs.

the family are farmers and were told there was nothing to be done for their child.

as the years have passed Da's leg muscles have started to contract and now ten years later his legs are so twisted that his knees are on the wrong side of the leg...and his feet are all the way up by his face.

his parents went to see jennifer to tell her that they feel like they can no longer look after him since he is getting too big to carry around.

well....it was pretty hearbreaking to hear this story unfolding right here in our town. my friend sarah was here too and we told jennifer that we would try to get the word out somehow. not that jennifer was asking for help in any way.

sarah and i got onto facebook pretty much the next day and shared the little we knew. we also sent a few emails to friends who we thought might have some connections...

WELL....

lo and behold.....

im happy to announce that today....january 22....Da had surgery on his legs!!!!

he will continue to have a few more surgeries until the problem is corrected. pretty unbelievable!! with just a few emails sent off into cyber space.....a little boys life is transformed.

not only do i want to thank those of you that replied to this story and genuinely tried to help (johan thats you!!!) i really want to encourage you guys that the next time a request like this lands in your inbox...realise that

a change can be made in the world!! despite the horrible things happening right now ...good things can still happen when we choose to act.

if you want to hear how things progress for Da and his family..let me know and i will keep you updated.
